Credit Unions (financial cooperatives) were formed in 1850 as an alternative to the financial industry. These cooperatives were democratically controlled by the membership and served by volunteers. "MEMBERS HELPING MEMBERS" was the philosophy in 1850 and that philosophy is as important today as it was then.
GRANCO Federal Credit Union was organized by the employees of Grant County Public Utility District in April 1956. GRANCO is a not for profit organization, owned by its' members, directed and served by 17 volunteers, and 22 full time employees. Every credit union member is an owner with an equal voice in his or her credit union regardless of the dollar amount held in his or her account.
GRANCO strives to maintain the original philosophy of credit unions by following the principles set forth by credit union pioneers while ensuring the safety of member funds.
